Pup Pocket Privacy Policy
Pup Pocket is a dog care tracker for iOS and Android. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version: everything you record stays on your phone. Pup Pocket has no account system, no server, and no analytics. We cannot see your dog's records, because they are never sent to us.

What we collect
Nothing. We operate no servers and receive no data from the app. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user identifier of any kind.
What the app stores on your device
Everything you enter is written to your phone's private app storage, which other apps cannot read:
- Your dogs' profiles — name, breed, birthday, gender, colour tag, photo
- Daily activity logs — walks, potty breaks, food, water, sleep, medications, notes
- Health records — vaccinations, medications, grooming schedules, vet visits, weight
- Photos you add to a profile or the journal, stored as files in the app's own folder
- GPS routes recorded while a walk timer is running
- Carer names you add to the on-device roster, so entries can show who logged them
- Preferences — temperature, weight and distance units, your saved location, region
This data is not encrypted beyond the protection your device's operating system provides to app storage. It is included in your phone's own backups (iCloud or Google) if you have those enabled — that backup is between you and Apple or Google, and we have no access to it.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. Because there is no server copy, uninstalling is permanent and unrecoverable.
Permissions the app asks for
Both are optional. The app works without either, with the related features unavailable.
Location — used in two places: to fetch weather for your area so the app can advise whether it is safe to walk, and to centre the map of nearby dog-friendly places. If you start a walk timer, your route is recorded to show the walk on the map afterwards. That route is saved on your phone and never uploaded. Pup Pocket only requests "while using the app" access and does not track your location in the background.
Photo library — used only to let you pick a picture for a dog's profile or the photo journal. The app reads only the images you explicitly choose. It never scans your library.
Information sent to other services
The app makes anonymous requests to four third-party services. No account details are attached, because there are none, and no identifier is sent that would let these services build a profile of you. Each receives only what it needs to answer the request:

Your dog's name, records, photos and logs are never included in any of these requests.
These services are operated independently of Pup Pocket and have their own privacy practices. As with any internet request, they will see your device's IP address. Google's handling of data received through Maps, Places and Geocoding is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Children
Pup Pocket is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since we collect nothing at all, no age-specific data handling applies.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
There are none. Pup Pocket contains no analytics SDK, no advertising, no tracking identifiers, and no third-party marketing code. We do not sell, share or transfer personal information, because we never receive any.
Your rights
Because your data never leaves your device, you already have complete control over it. You can edit or delete any record inside the app at any time, and uninstalling removes everything.
Requests to access, correct, export or delete data held by us are not applicable — we hold none. If you are in a jurisdiction with data protection rights such as the GDPR, CCPA or the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, this is the practical effect: there is no data controller holding your information.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Pup Pocket collects or transmits anything new — for example crash reporting, cloud sync between devices, or in-app purchases — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
